DESCRIPTION:Jewish Family Service of Ottawa is inviting the public to attend an exhibition of two newcomer working groups: \nBetween 11:00 am – 4:00\, there is an open exhibition that features the artworks created by newcomer women in the “”Art for Integration-Women Peer Support Program””. The program provides a space for acquiring knowledge about Canada and Ottawa and sharing experiences through exposure to and creation of artwork. Visitors are invited to view the artworks\, meet the creators\, and learn about the stories behind the artworks and beyond. \nAt 11:30 am the audience is welcome to attend a one-minute speech event that is the closing event of one of our newcomer youth groups who worked together during the last three months. The participants will showcase their public speaking skills\, applying what they have learned throughout the workshop. DESCRIPTION:Multiculturalism Day event in the RBC room at YMCA Taggart to celebrate and promote cultural diversity. The event is organized collectively by Point D’accueil Francophone (PAF) and the Newcomer Information Centre of the YMCA Ottawa. The event will be a day-long festival that will showcase the unique customs\, traditions\, and practices of various cultures and ethnicities living in Ottawa. The aim of the event is to create a platform for people from different backgrounds to come together\, share their cultural experiences and promote understanding and appreciation for diversity. \nObjectives: \nThe objectives of the Multiculturalism Day event are: \n• To promote cultural awareness and understanding in the community.\n• To showcase and celebrate the diversity of cultures in our community.\n• To provide a platform for people from different backgrounds to come together and interact.\n• To foster respect for cultural differences and reduce discrimination. \nEvent Details: \nThe Multiculturalism Day event will be held in the RBC room at YMCA Taggart. The event will be free and open to the public\, but we will require participants to register in advance or upon arrival to help us better plan the event.
