SUMMARY:Everybody Rows Ottawa
DESCRIPTION:Everybody Rows Ottawa programming typically involves one or more two hour sessions at the Ottawa Rowing Club. Participants will attend the first hour with experienced instructors inside our boathouse. They will learn the basic rowing stroke on rowing machines and learn safety when rowing on the water. Their newly acquired skills will be put to the test with fun team workouts and games on the machines. In the second hour\, participants will get the chance to explore the rowing stroke on water\, at a level that is challenging yet enjoyable for them. After the on-water portion\, everyone will gather to offer their feedback about the session. Programming can also be adapted to the needs/preferences of certain groups. Some groups may not be comfortable going on the water\, so more time would be spent indoors playing games and exploring various functions of the rowing machine. \nLanguage: Bilingual

DESCRIPTION:Join Refugee 613 for a special WOW Week interactive event as we unveil our new Language Matrix — a research-informed tool developed to help organizations make more equitable\, evidence-based decisions when choosing languages to translate content for newcomer audiences. The Language Matrix was developed by Refugee 613 through funding from Immigration\, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) under the Newcomer Info Hub project\, with additional support from the Language Keepers micro grant from MCIS Language Solutions. It is an equity and needs-based tool designed to guide decisions on which languages to prioritize when translating vital information for newcomers.\nWe will present early findings and community insights that shaped the matrix\, and offer a walkthrough of how the matrix can guide translation decisions.
